Kagawa prefecture 香川県
Kagawa is the smallest prefecture in Japan. It’s located on the island of “Shikoku” and its capital city is “Takamatsu”
This place is famous for “Udon”. Usually, we eat “Udon” but people in this prefecture say they drink “Udon”. I don’t know how, but they really drink it fast.
Sanuki Udon is very famous and there are little to close to 700 restaurants in this area dedicated to serving Udon
TOURING SPOT
“Konpira Daigongen”
This is the oldest playhouse, which existed in Japan. The play are held in every spring and there are many people visit from every prefectures.
There is also Konpira-Shrine which has been a popular goal for pilgrimages since the Kamakura/Muromachi-Jidai
“Naoshima” island
“Kagawa” faces “Setonaikai” (inland sea), where in some islands, art festival is held. The whole Setonaikai-Complex contains around 3000 Islands in total adding up to a huge national park to explore and for many animals to live in peace and protection.
The most famous island is “Naoshima”, where there is museums that “Tadao-Ando” has designed.
“Marugame” Castle 丸亀城
This is the castle which has over 400 years of history. The height of the stone wall is over 60 meters and this is the tallest wall in Japan.
The greatest feature is the beauty of a curved line. The castle has been restaurated and renovated by Ikoma Kazumasa in 1597, but has been dismantled due to an imperial decree.
Nowadays the Castle is preserved in the Kameyama Park.
