Miyagi prefecture 宮城県
Today we talk about the prefecture “Miyagi”. Miyagi is located in the on the island of “Honshuu” inside the Tohouku Area of Japan.
It’s capital is “Sendai”

It’s the same length as Athens or San Francisco and it is located in the center of the Tohouku Region
“Sendai”, the prefectural capital of “Miyagi” is the birthplace of “Gyutan”, which is grilled cow tongue.
Also, it’s the biggest city in the “Tohoku” region.
Date Masamune built a castle at Sendai as his seat to rule Mutsu. In 1871, Sendai Prefecture was formed. It was renamed Miyagi prefecture the following year.
The castle still stands and has become a tourist attraction still residing over Miyagi nowadays.
Also Prefecture Miyagi is famous of it’s wide variety of seafoods
Finest oysters are fished at “Matsushima”, which is also one of the Japan’s three most greatest viewing points.
23% of all oysters in Japan come from this location.
The contrast of the blue sea, and the green pine will move your heart indefinitely!
It has been described in “Haiku” or “Tanka”(Japanese poem) from very old times.
