Hakone 箱根町
“Hakone”(箱根) is located in the west part of Kanagawa prefecture. It is called “Tenka No Turugi”(天下の剣), that means surrounded by steep mountains. It is located in the middle of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu-Nationalpark.
DESCRIPTION
The highlight spots in “Hakone” are “Onsen”, “Panorama” and a certain museum. It is also famous for being a summer resort.
“Ashinoko”(芦ノ湖) Lake
There are many tourist attraction and resort facilities in this lake. It is also known as a panorama spot. What I want to recommend is “Hakone Ferry Boat” which is called “Hakone pirate ship”. There are 3 ports in “Ashinoko” lake and 3 ferries are cruising. You can see the magnificent Mt.Fuji from the ferries. Over 1.8million peoples are go aboard the ferries.
“Hakone Ropeway”
This ropeway connecting “Tougenkyo”(桃源郷) and “Mt.Sounzan”(早雲山). It was created in 1959th and nowadays, over 2.0 million people are using this ropeway. On the ropeway, you can see beautiful nature in all 4 seasons. In the spring, you can see the beautiful cherry blossoms and in the autumn, you can see the beautiful autumn leaves. I want to recommend getting off at “Oowakudani” station and eat boiled egg there. This egg is boiled in an “onsen” so the color of eggshell is black. It is believed that if you eat the egg, the lifetime will prolong 7 years per egg.
“Narukawa” museum
In this museum, you can see the Japanese arts (mainly Japanese painting), and beautiful sight from observation deck. At the deck, you can see the “Ashinoko” lake surrounded by steep mountains and magnificent Mt.Fuji. There is a café called “Kisetsufu”(季節風), where you can enjoy the tea with beautiful sight.
“Onsen”
Hakone is also famous for “onsen”. There are many “onsen” in “Hakone” and most of them can take a bath with seeing Mt.Fuji. Check our “Onsen” post for detailed description what they are.
