Tochigi prefecture 栃木県
“Tochigi” [栃木/とちぎ] prefecture is located in north part of Kanto region.
It is famous for the best brand strawberries “Tochiotome”.
TOURING SPOT
“Nikko”
It is one of the famous touring spot in Japan. Many students of elementary school which located in Kanto region, visit “Nikko” for school trip.
There are many highlight in “Nikko”, so I’ll introduce you some.
1. “Kegon no taki”
Waterfall is famous in “Nikko” and this “Kegon no taki” is maybe the most famous waterfall.
This is a waterfall with a fall of 100 feet, so the sight is solemn.
2. “Senjougahara”
The meaning is “Battle field”. The name is comes from the legend that a god of the mountain developed a fight on the stage of this damp plain. The area is about 400ha, and a part of this area is registered under the Ramsar Convention.
3. “Nikko Toshogu”
Nikko Toshogu is a Shinto shrine established in 1617 to enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. Three wise monkeys(see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil) are famous in this shirine.
“Kinugawa onsen”(hot spring)
“Kinugawa onsen” is the place where you can listen to the sounds of river and wind and have a rest while you’re in the “Onsen”. You can got to both, “Nikko” and “Kinugawa-onsen” by train from “Asakusa”.
It only takes about two hours so it’ll be good to go there the second day.
