Oshino Hakkai 忍野八海 (Springs of Mt. Fuji)
“Oshino Hakkai” is located in Yamanashi prefecture.
“Oshino” is the name of place, and “Hakkai” means 8 ponds.
The water of melted snow from Mt.Fuji is become the spring water and make those ponds.
It is designated as a national nature treasure and selected as 100 Exquisite and Well-Conserved Waters.

This is the widest pond in “Hakkai” and it is bit far from other ponds, so there are few tourists.
There is the another name called “abstinence pond”, because the water of this pond was believed to climb Mt.Fuji safely.
This is the smallest pond in “Hakkai”.
You can see the blue of water and the swing of Ranunculus aquatilis.
The meaning of “Sokonashi” is bottomless.
It is said that if you drop something in this pond, you can’t find it.
At this pond, you can see the spring water are coming from the bottom gravel.
This pond is believed as the place of matchmaking.
This is the most famous pond in “Oshino Hakkai”.
There are many souvenir shops, so there are many tourists around this pond.
“Nigori” means cloudiness in English.
Regardless of this name, this pond is cleared now.

The name of this pond is come from “Shoubu”(Iris), which are growing around pond.
According to the legend, the illness is getting better when you coiling this Iris.
