Kouchi prefecture 高知県
“Kochi” [高知県/こうちけん] prefecture is located in Shikoku region, and it is the place where “Ryouma Sakamoto”(the samurai who is famous for modernize Japan) was born.
DESCRIPTION
It’s a prefecture where the nature and atmosphere of old times still remains.
A river called “Shimanto-river” recalls us the good old times of Japan.
As many nature still remains, fruit, fish, and meat is very good.
FOOD
“Katsuo-no-tataki”(Katuo means bonito) is special product of this prefecture.
The traditional pole-and-line fishing of bonito still done.Only the surface of the fished bonito is toasted, which makes a half raw “sashimi”(sliced raw fish).
“Sashimi” is usually eaten with “shoyu”(soy sauce), but this dish is eaten with garlic and “ponzu”, which is a seasoning made of vinegar and the juice from a bitter orange taste.
TOURING SPOT
“Torii Sugi”
This is the famous mysterious tree in Kouchi.
There are two cedar trees are grow from each approach and those branch are connected each other, just like a “Torii” gate.
“Kochi castle”
This castle is designated as a national historical site. It is 400 years has passed, since it was constructed.
Also it is selected as top 100 castles in Japan.
