Miso based ramen, was made after world war Ⅱ.
Many people were malnutritioned at that time, so the man who made the first ramen, wanted to make a nutritious dish to help people get in shape again.
He was fairly confident that miso is a nutritious seasoning.
Miso soup being eaten everyday was the hint which led to the creation of miso ramen.

Finally in 1955, the first miso ramen bowls were served in Sapporo (Hokkaido).
Considering the nutrient balance, the topping of the ramen was strongly fried onions, bean sprout, and minced meat.
Still in many miso ramen shops use this pioneer topping to this day with great success!
