There are some taboos to use “hashi”.

It was introduced to Japan from China in Nara period (710-794).
There are many Asian countries which use “hashi”, but Japan is the only country to use only “hashi”.
“Hashi” have many various patterns, so you can choose your favorite one.
There are some taboos to use “hashi”.
One is to hover them over good while deciding what to choose.
The other is to stick them straight into food in order to pick it up.
And passing the receiving food with “hashi”.
These action are considered to be rude behavior.
So, please keep in mind if you use “hashi” in Japan.
