Hibachi 火鉢(Brazier)
“Hibachi”【火鉢/ひばち】 is the traditional Japanese heater.
It is rarely seen today, but it was the variable heater in old days.
Hi!
Let me introduce a traditional heater.
It’s called [Hibachi].
It doesn’t have the ability to heat the room, but if you come close to
it, you can have a warm.
Ash is burnt for heat so there is no smoke. So it was possible to be used in the house easily.
It was used to warm your feet and hand , or toast “omochi” or boil water for green tea.
Family members came around the “Hibachi”, so it also had a role for to communicate with each other.
It was used until Taisho period, so it’s not used nowadays.
But you may can see it in “Ryokan”(A traditional Japanese hotel).
Especially in the Tohoku area.
