In Japan, we call the holiday after 1st Jan, “Oshogatu”.
There are many ceremonies, and “Oshogatu” related culture.
This is because people in the past regarded the start of the year important.And also, maybe the holiday near the New Year is longer than other countries.
The government established that the holiday for “Oshogatu” is from 29th Dec to 3rd Jan. (It will depend on the company)
So, now we are enjoying “Oshogatu” holiday:)
